On the 23rd of July 2024, the Irish Solar Energy Association (ISEA) hosted an insightful webinar focusing on the importance of standardising rooftop solar PV installations. This event was part of our efforts to align with the updated SEAI Homeowner’s Guide to Solar PV and to support our new ‘No Rooftop Left Behind’ campaign.
The webinar featured a comprehensive presentation by the ISEA Rooftop Standards Working Group Chair, Kieran Larkin, Head of Residential Sales at Pinergy Solar Electric, which detailed the updated standards and guidelines for rooftop solar installations. The presentation highlighted the significance of standardisation in enhancing customer satisfaction and driving industry growth. Real-world examples and best practices were shared, providing attendees with valuable insights into successful implementations.
Key Takeaways from the Webinar:
Benefits of Standardisation:
Standardised installations ensure consistent quality, reliability, and safety, boosting customer confidence and satisfaction.
They also help streamline the installation process, making it more efficient and cost-effective for installers.
Technical Aspects:
The updated standards include key technical guidelines that installers need to follow to ensure optimal performance and durability of solar PV systems.
Potential issues from non-compliance were discussed, emphasizing the importance of adhering to these standards.
Industry and Policy Support:
The role of government policies and incentives in promoting standardised installations was explored.
Industry collaboration and partnerships were identified as crucial factors in the successful implementation of these standards.
Future Outlook:
Emerging technologies and innovations in the solar PV sector were highlighted as important contributors to the future of rooftop installations.
The ‘No Rooftop Left Behind’ campaign was introduced, aiming to maximize the rooftop solar potential across Ireland.
We also had an engaging panel discussion chaired by our Head of Policy, Dr. Eva Barrett, featuring industry experts who shared their insights on the challenges and opportunities in standardising rooftop solar PV installations.
Panel:
Darren Doyle, Head Of PV Engineering at SolarSmart
