Celebrating European Solar Day

The Irish Solar Energy Association (ISEA), in collaboration with Solar Power Europe, is marking European Solar Day today with a range of educational activities tailored for schools and young people.

Visit solarday.org for a variety of resources including a solar knowledge quiz, word scramble, crosswords, and a colouring book. The site also features informative videos, campaign materials to help spread awareness about solar energy and guidelines on how to participate, and presentations on solar and energy storage technologies.

This year, European Solar Day coincides with the day after the summer solstice – the longest day of the year and a peak period for daily solar generation.

Solar energy remains a beacon of hope in combating climate change. According to our latest Scale of Solar report, Ireland has significantly increased its solar capacity, now reaching 1,185MW, a growth that underscores solar's role in achieving cleaner energy and reducing carbon emissions.

As Ireland embraces solar technology, we recognise the importance of accelerating our efforts to achieve critical energy security and carbon reduction goals.

Join us in celebrating European Solar Day and together, let's advance the adoption of solar energy for a sustainable future.
